Sunday January 13 Laurie
I went online to check my flight status, as I was to fly out of Little Rock
Tuesday morning and make the connections in Houston. Found out that they had
changed my flights all around and I would be getting into Houston after my flight to
Europe left. (little did I know)
They had me flying out of Little Rock in the afternoon, connecting with a
flight from Memphis in the morning and ending up in Houston before I started. Or
something like that. I ranted and raved, and they offered to send me through Atlanta
with a 12 hour standover, still getting to Houston after my flight was supposed to
leave from Houston. So I loaded up the truck and headed for Patti’s early Monday
morning. Saved some on flight, will spend a lot of it on gas.
Monday January 14
The trip was uneventful except for one problem. About Waco I stopped for
gas. When I restarted the motor there was no power steering etc. Looked under the
hood and the idler pulley for the serpentine belt was kind of side ways and the belt
was hanging down. Probably would have heard some noise if I could hear.
The really good thing about all of this was that it happened within a mile of a
parts store, so I was able to drive there to get a new pulley and bearing. And they had
them in stock!!
If that had gone on one of the long vacant stretches, I could have been in a lot
of trouble. Someone looking out for me today.
